The Baptism Ministry provides pre-baptism instruction to parents and godparents to:
o Help the parents become more aware of their Christian responsibilities
o Impress upon the parents the need to foster a home environment that will help the child grow as a Christian
o Emphasize the communal aspects of the sacrament
o Explain the form and meaning of the ceremony
Skills required
o Teaching / presentation to a small group of adults
o Basic understanding of the sacraments
o Basic audio-visual skill to set-up and run a VCR
Pre-Baptism Ministry Information and Time Commitment
a) Teacher of the pre-baptism instruction program. Classes are of parents and godparents. Class size varies from 2 " 20, with 4-6 the common average.
b) Classes are run monthly on the first Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM at Father Ted Hall.
c) Set-up time for each class is approximately 15 minutes; class itself runs 45 " 60 minutes.
d) Number of classes taught per year depends upon the number of instructors.
