Ministry Description:
Funeral ministry members are on call every other month to be present to families at the time of the death of a loved one. They participate in the funeral Mass as a body, joining the family and friends of the deceased person. In that role they represent the whole parish in offering their respect and prayerful sympathy at a special time in the life of a family.
Members are called during their month when a funeral Mass is scheduled at Sacred Heart and gather at the church about twenty minutes before the Mass begins. They process in and out of the church with the funeral procession, and participate in the Mass with the community. This is a good ministry for people who can be free for about an hour and a half in the morning, and simply requires that a member be able to walk in a procession in and out of the church.
