Meeting time: one hour monthly except January and July
Time for specific tasks: Varies with the task, from dropping food off at Suffield Emergency Aid to packing food basket at the holidays, tasks might take from 20 minutes to a couple of hours.
The Social Action/Human needs Ministry is dedicated to helping meet community and individual needs in our Suffield area and beyond. At our monthly meetings we plan for and evaluate our monthly, annual and special projects. These include monthly food drives and nursing home activities, semi-annual (seasonal) clothing collections, annual Thanksgiving food baskets and Christmas gift and food baskets. Each year we support the Crop Walk in October and collect money for school supplies for needy children in Hartford and Suffield. When special needs arise, we consider how we can be supportive. This has included gathering supplies for our Troops being deployed, special support for parishioners volunteering in Haiti, and being available for small jobs requested by social service persons.
